India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. has taken a major step towards strengthening school education in Tamil Nadu by constructing a fully equipped 12-classroom building for the Government High School in Thirukallimedu, Kancheepuram. This marks the company’s largest education-focused CSR project to date.
The new two-storey facility hosts six classrooms on each floor. Each room is fully furnished and designed for comfortable learning. Additional facilities include a computer lab, a kitchen building, separate restrooms, and a 10KW solar power setup. The premises also feature rainwater harvesting structures, a robust RCC water sump, and a secure 550-metre boundary wall to ensure safety.
This school is the fourth such project by Yamaha in the last four years. Earlier initiatives in Kanchipuram and Tiruvannamalai districts included the construction of similar school buildings and the setup of computer labs in five government schools in 2024. Yamaha’s educational outreach clearly shows sustained commitment.
The new school’s inauguration saw participation from key government officials such as C.V.M.P. Ezhilarasan (MLA, Kancheepuram), M. Mahalakshmi (Mayor), R. Kumaragurunathan (Deputy Mayor), and other state authorities. Representing Yamaha were Itaru Otani (Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group), Atsushi Nagashima (Director), and S. Kumar (Vice President).
Parents and students attending the event expressed excitement over the new infrastructure. Yamaha also distributed school bags and stationery kits to all students, making the day even more special.
This initiative is in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Government’s “Namma School Namma Ooru Palli” (NSNOP) programme. The scheme aims to improve basic infrastructure and community engagement in public education across the state.
Yamaha’s approach to Corporate Social Responsibility rests on four core pillars: Education, Environment, Healthcare, and Road Safety. With this new milestone, the company reinforces its belief that education is the strongest pillar for a brighter future.
