MCX records turnover of Rs.188492 crores in Commodity Futures & Rs.1797757 crores in Options: MCXBULLDEX futures reaches at 23305
During the week of July 18-24, the leading commodity derivatives exchange MCX recorded a total turnover of Rs.19,86,273.54 crore in commodity futures, options, and index futures. Commodity futures saw a turnover of Rs.1,88,492.93 crore, while commodity options recorded a notional turnover of Rs.17,97,757.53 crore. The August Bulldex futures closed at 23,305 points. The total premium turnover in commodity options was Rs.18,376.34 crore.
During the review period, precious metals, including gold and silver futures, saw a trading volume of Rs.1,43,406.06 crore. MCX Gold August futures opened at Rs.97,320, reached an intra-day high of Rs.1,00,555 and a low of Rs.97,320, and closed at Rs.98,726 per 10 grams, up Rs.1,253 or 1.29% from the previous close of Rs.97,473. Gold Guinea July futures rose by Rs.975 or 1.25%, closing at Rs.79,270 per 8 grams. Gold Petal July futures gained Rs.98 or 1%, closing at Rs.9,937 per gram. Gold Mini August futures opened at Rs.96,968, hit an intra-day high of Rs.1,00,421 and a low of Rs.96,967, and closed at Rs.98,668 per 10 grams, up Rs.1,214 or 1.25%. Gold Ten July futures opened at Rs.97,301, reached an intra-day high of Rs.1,00,388 and a low of Rs.97,300, and closed at Rs.98,653 per 10 grams, up Rs.1,038 or 1.06% from the previous close of Rs.97,615.
In silver futures, Silver September futures opened at Rs.1,12,529, hit an intra-day high of Rs.1,16,641 and a low of Rs.1,12,505, and closed at Rs.1,15,133 per kg, up Rs.2,799 or 2.49% from the previous close of Rs.1,12,334. Silver Mini August futures rose by Rs.2,752 or 2.45%, closing at Rs.1,14,870 per kg. Silver Micro August futures increased by Rs.2,756 or 2.46%, closing at Rs.1,14,881 per kg.
In the metals segment, trades worth Rs.12,460.44 crore were recorded. Copper July futures rose by Rs.10.9 or 1.23%, closing at Rs.893.5 per kg. Zinc July futures surged by Rs.10.5 or 4.06%, closing at Rs.269.05 per kg. Aluminium July futures increased by Rs.5.2 or 2.09%, closing at Rs.254.25 per kg. Lead July futures gained Rs.1.6 or 0.9%, closing at Rs.179.6 per kg.
In the energy segment, traders executed deals worth Rs.31,321.87 crore. MCX Crude Oil August futures opened at Rs.5,697, touched a high of Rs.5,824 and a low of Rs.5,605, and closed at Rs.5,672 per barrel, down Rs.26 or 0.46%. Crude Oil Mini August futures fell by Rs.25 or 0.44%, closing at Rs.5,675 per barrel. Natural Gas August futures opened at Rs.306.8, hit a high of Rs.315 and a low of Rs.269.7, and closed at Rs.271.8 per MMBTU, down Rs.37.7 or 12.18% from the previous close of Rs.309.5. Natural Gas Mini August futures dropped by Rs.37.4 or 12.08%, closing at Rs.272.1 per MMBTU.
In agricultural commodities, Mentha Oil July futures opened at Rs.890 and closed at Rs.890 per kg, down Rs.1.7 or 0.19%. Cotton Candy July futures rose by Rs.310 or 0.56%, closing at Rs.56,010 per candy.
In terms of trading volume, gold contracts recorded Rs.98,425.52 crore, and silver contracts Rs.44,980.55 crore. Copper futures saw Rs.7,195.62 crore, aluminium and aluminium mini futures Rs.1,657.30 crore, lead and lead mini futures Rs.203.46 crore, and zinc and zinc mini futures Rs.3,404.05 crore in trades. Crude oil and crude oil mini futures recorded Rs.5,802.29 crore, while natural gas and natural gas mini futures saw Rs.25,466.42 crore. Mentha oil futures had Rs.28.51 crore, and cotton candy futures Rs.4.22 crore in trades.
Open interest at the end of the week stood at 7,735 lots for gold futures, 21,337 lots for gold mini futures, 777 lots for gold guinea futures, 5,855 lots for gold petal futures, and 2,573 lots for gold ten futures. Silver futures had 19,824 lots, silver mini futures 36,161 lots, and silver micro futures 1,19,951 lots. Crude oil futures had 11,542 lots, and natural gas futures had 28,320 lots.
In index futures, Bulldex August futures opened at 22,970 points, touched an intra-day high of 23,797 and a low of 22,970, and closed at 23,305 points, up 485 points.
