At the grand stage of Bombay Times Fashion Week, heritage met high fashion as House of Marigold unveiled its much-anticipated collaboration with designer Rohit Verma. Titled Banaras Ki Goonj, the collection emerged as a refined tribute to the timeless spirit of Varanasi, capturing its cultural depth and spiritual resonance through couture.
The collection draws deeply from the soul of Banaras, a city known for its ghats, ancient temples, and vibrant street life. Each ensemble reflects a careful balance between tradition and modernity. Intricate threadwork, rich textures, and structured silhouettes come together to recreate the visual poetry of the city. From the calm of the Ganges at dawn to the pulsating energy of its bustling bazaars, every piece tells a layered story.
Jewellery played a significant role in elevating the collection. Designer Shilpa Marigold introduced a striking range of heritage-inspired pieces that complemented the garments. Statement headgears and cascading jewels added a regal dimension, echoing the traditional shringar associated with Banaras. The styling brought alive a sense of sacred elegance, enhancing the narrative of the showcase.
The runway witnessed a strong celebrity presence, adding glamour and visibility to the show. Actor Bipasha Basu took centre stage as the showstopper, bringing her signature poise and confidence to the collection. She was joined by Taha Shah, whose striking appearance added a contemporary edge to the presentation. Their presence amplified the visual impact of the designs.
Adding an international touch to the evening, Shivani Singh travelled from the United States to attend and support the showcase. The event also saw appearances from several well-known personalities, including Poonam Dhillon, Divya Agarwal, Isha Koppikar, Meera Chopra, and Umar Riaz, among others. Their presence turned the showcase into a star-studded affair.
More than just a fashion presentation, Banaras Ki Goonj stood out as an immersive cultural experience. The collection transported the audience into the heart of Banaras, where history, devotion, and artistry coexist. It highlighted how traditional craftsmanship can be reinterpreted for the modern world without losing its essence.
