Gaming today has moved beyond just screens and competitions. It has grown into a larger ecosystem of creators, communities, careers and digital culture, especially among Gen Z. Reflecting this changing landscape, NMIMS Navi Mumbai recently hosted an immersive gaming and esports event in collaboration with S8UL, bringing popular gaming creators closer to students.
The campus transformed into an esports arena as students got the opportunity to interact with S8UL personalities Mr. Jay, HeadFlicker and Binks. The event combined competitive gaming, entertainment and conversations around the growing creator economy.
The highlight of the event was a FIFA tournament, where students competed through semi-finals before two teams faced each other in the final round. The event also featured an Audience FIFA Challenge, allowing a student to compete directly against one of the visiting creators.
Adding to the excitement, students participated in an interactive watch party featuring live commentary from the creators. The session allowed students to revisit popular S8UL moments while experiencing the energy of a live esports broadcast.
Beyond gaming, the event opened conversations about the realities of building a career in the digital world. During an open Q&A session, students spoke with the creators about content creation, managing challenges, dealing with setbacks and understanding the effort behind becoming successful in the creator ecosystem.
The creators also shared insights into the journey behind their online presence, highlighting the importance of consistency, creativity and adapting to changes in the digital space.
The event concluded with a Meet and Greet session, giving students an opportunity to interact with the creators personally, take photographs and connect with them beyond the competitive format.
The growing popularity of gaming and esports among young audiences has created new career opportunities in areas such as content creation, streaming, game development, marketing and digital entertainment. Events like these showcase how gaming culture is becoming an important part of student experiences and conversations around future career paths.
Through initiatives that connect students with emerging industries and communities, NMIMS Navi Mumbai continues to create platforms where students can explore interests beyond traditional academics.
The S8UL Gaming and Esports Event offered students more than just entertainment — it provided a glimpse into the evolving world of competitive gaming, creator culture and the opportunities emerging in the digital economy.
