Mumbai (Anil Bedag): Devgn CineX is stepping up its expansion plans across South India, marking a significant milestone in its journey to build a strong pan-India cinema exhibition network. The company is set to launch an 11-screen megaplex in Bengaluru and a seven-screen property in Hyderabad by the end of the year, adding a total of 18 new screens to its growing portfolio.
The expansion comes at a time when the Indian cinema exhibition industry is undergoing a major transformation. Audiences are increasingly seeking experiences that go beyond traditional movie screenings, with premium amenities, entertainment options and personalised services becoming important aspects of the modern cinema-going experience.
Currently, Devgn CineX operates 57 screens across 19 locations in India, while another 30 screens are under construction. With its latest South India projects, the brand aims to strengthen its presence in key metropolitan markets and move closer to its broader pan-India growth strategy.
The company’s approach is not limited to expanding the number of screens. Devgn CineX is positioning its properties as comprehensive entertainment destinations where audiences can enjoy cinema alongside hospitality, dining and other experiences. Its offerings include premium hospitality services, curated dining options, immersive technology, live sports screenings, and facilities for corporate and private events.
Founder Ajay Devgn has highlighted his special connection with audiences in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. According to the actor and entrepreneur, the upcoming properties are designed with the objective of bringing a world-class cinema experience to audiences in these cities.
The new developments are also part of the company’s efforts to create a more customer-focused cinema environment. Under the leadership of newly appointed CEO Ajay Agrawal, Devgn CineX is working towards making the customer journey more personalised, seamless and memorable.
The company’s expansion reflects a broader shift in India’s entertainment industry, where cinemas are increasingly evolving into lifestyle and entertainment destinations. Instead of simply offering a venue to watch films, modern multiplexes are becoming spaces where audiences can dine, socialise, enjoy live events and experience new forms of technology.
Bengaluru and Hyderabad, both major entertainment and technology hubs, present significant opportunities for premium cinema formats. The addition of 18 screens across the two cities is therefore expected to play an important role in Devgn CineX’s growth strategy.
With 57 operational screens, 30 more under construction and 18 additional screens planned in South India, Devgn CineX is steadily expanding its footprint across the country. The brand’s strategy suggests that the future of cinema exhibition will increasingly be defined not only by the films being screened but also by the overall experience offered to audiences.
As Devgn CineX continues its expansion, its latest projects in Bengaluru and Hyderabad underline the company’s ambition to create a distinctive, premium entertainment ecosystem while strengthening its position in India’s rapidly evolving cinema exhibition sector.
