Bengaluru’s IT professionals staged a protest demanding a healthier work-life balance, citing long hours, job stress, and unrealistic deadlines. More than 100 tech workers gathered in the city’s IT hub to raise concerns about the growing pressure in the industry.

Employees expressed frustration over excessive working hours, lack of personal time, and rising mental health issues. Many claimed that despite hybrid work models, the expectation to be available around the clock has worsened the situation.

One software engineer at the protest said, “We work 12-14 hours a day, including weekends. There’s no time left for family or personal life.” Others echoed similar concerns, calling for immediate reforms to protect employee well-being.

India’s IT industry has long been criticised for its demanding work culture, with increasing reports of burnout and job dissatisfaction. The protesting workers are urging companies to introduce strict limits on working hours, enforce personal time policies, and offer better job security amid frequent layoffs.

So far, major IT firms have not officially responded to the demands, but experts believe this movement could trigger important discussions about workplace reforms. With Bengaluru at the heart of India’s tech industry, the protest may set a precedent for similar actions across the sector.
