Maharashtra’s latest budget has set the stage for a major infrastructural transformation, with a ₹7 lakh crore allocation focusing on transport, industry, and social welfare. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, while presenting the budget, announced the development of a third airport in Mumbai to accommodate the rising air traffic demands. This project will complement the ongoing expansion of the Navi Mumbai International Airport and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
The budget also prioritises the expansion of metro networks across Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur, enhancing connectivity through the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), and developing new expressways and industrial corridors to improve logistics and economic growth.
In a bid to attract global investors, Maharashtra is making significant investments in manufacturing, IT, and green energy sectors. The government has set an ambitious target of creating over two million jobs by enhancing business infrastructure and offering incentives to industries.
Social welfare has been another key focus area, with substantial allocations for healthcare, education, and urban development. Affordable housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), improved healthcare facilities in rural areas, and increased financial support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and startups are expected to drive inclusive growth.
Adding to the historical and cultural significance of the budget, the government has announced the construction of a grand memorial for Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Sangameshwar. This project aims to celebrate his legacy and establish the memorial as a major cultural landmark.
With these extensive infrastructural and economic initiatives, the 2025 Maharashtra budget sets the foundation for accelerated growth and development, positioning the state as a hub for investment and urban progress.
