In an inspiring feat blending adventure with advocacy, 20-year-old Hyderabad-based mountaineer Bhukya Yashwanth has successfully scaled Mount Iso, the highest peak in Manipur, located in the picturesque Senapati district. The climb is part of his ongoing mission titled Har Shikhar Par Tiranga, which aims to hoist the Indian national flag atop the highest peaks in each state of India.
The young mountaineer’s journey was not just about physical endurance but also about spreading a crucial message to the youth. Yashwanth, deeply concerned about rising drug addiction and the growing influence of online betting apps among young people, used this expedition as a platform to encourage healthy, purpose-driven lifestyles.
He was accompanied on this climb by personnel of the 16th Battalion of the Assam Rifles, including Colonel Sandeep Sharma and Lieutenant Colonel Siddharth. Together, they unfurled the national flag at the summit and held up a photo of the Governor as a mark of unity and national pride.
Mount Iso adds to Yashwanth’s growing list of accomplishments. He has previously summited Mount Gorichen in Arunachal Pradesh and Betalongchhip in Tripura. His global expeditions include Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mount Elbrus (Europe), and Mount Kosciuszko (Australia). Domestically, he has conquered Mount Yunam in Himachal Pradesh and Mount Kang Yatse II in Ladakh.
Yashwanth’s mission is both a personal pursuit and a national call to action, aiming to inspire Indian youth through his climbs and his voice. With several northeastern summits still on his radar, his journey continues to gather momentum.
