Harmanpreet Kaur delivered a memorable performance against Zimbabwe, scoring her eighth ODI century to help India secure a convincing 121-run victory in the second Women’s ODI in Vadodara on 25 October. The experienced batter also received a standing ovation from captain Smriti Mandhana, creating a special moment during India’s dominant batting display.
India’s victory gave them a 2-0 lead in the three-match series, with one match remaining. Harmanpreet’s century and Deepti Sharma’s equally impressive innings played a major role in India’s success.
Harmanpreet Rebuilds India’s Innings
India faced early pressure after losing Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma cheaply. Harmanpreet stepped up when the team needed stability and built a crucial partnership with Pratika Rawal.
The pair added 124 runs for the third wicket, helping India recover from the early setbacks. Rawal contributed 61 runs off 67 balls, while Harmanpreet continued to attack the Zimbabwe bowlers.
Harmanpreet reached her century in 101 balls. As she completed the milestone, Mandhana and other Indian players stood up and applauded her achievement. The gesture highlighted the team’s appreciation for the senior batter’s contribution.
Harmanpreet eventually scored 126 runs off 121 balls, hitting 15 fours. Her innings gave India the platform to post a challenging total.
Deepti Sharma Adds Another Century
Deepti Sharma strengthened India’s position with an unbeaten 106 off 86 balls. She joined Harmanpreet in the middle order and helped maintain the scoring rate during the final overs.
Their partnership added 153 runs for the fifth wicket, allowing India to finish with 328 runs for six wickets in 50 overs. The two centuries gave India a strong advantage heading into Zimbabwe’s chase.
India Seal the Series
Zimbabwe struggled to keep pace with India’s target and managed 207 runs in 48.5 overs. India’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings and secured a 121-run victory.
The result confirmed India’s series win with a 2-0 lead. Harmanpreet’s outstanding century also earned her the Player of the Match award.
A Memorable Moment of Team Spirit
Beyond the statistics, Mandhana’s standing ovation became one of the match’s memorable moments. Her gesture recognised Harmanpreet’s achievement and reflected the importance of supporting teammates during crucial performances.
With one match remaining in the series, India will look to carry this momentum forward. Harmanpreet’s century and Deepti’s unbeaten hundred have given the team plenty of positives as they prepare for the final ODI.
