S Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International’s global portfolio, has officially opened Le Méridien Surat, marking the brand’s entry into one of India’s fastest-growing urban centres. Situated along the banks of the Tapi River, the hotel introduces a refined blend of contemporary design, cultural storytelling, and curated experiences to the city.
Known as India’s Diamond City, Surat is celebrated for its thriving textile and diamond industries, as well as its vibrant street food culture. Reflecting this dynamic identity, Le Méridien Surat offers travellers a stay that seamlessly connects modern luxury with local heritage.
The hotel features 185 thoughtfully designed guest rooms and suites, each inspired by Surat’s legacy of craftsmanship. Subtle design elements, including faceted textures and fluid forms, pay homage to the city’s diamond polishing and textile weaving traditions. At the reception, a striking installation titled “The Diamond Street – Heart of Surat” captures the energy of the diamond trade, while “The Threads of Surat – The Silk City” at the Le Méridien Hub celebrates the artistry of local textiles.
Dining at the hotel is designed to be an immersive experience. The Surat Kitchen, the all-day dining restaurant, offers a blend of global cuisines with regional influences, reflecting the city’s diverse food culture. Guests can also enjoy Le Scoop, the brand’s signature gelato programme, which adds a playful and indulgent touch to the culinary offerings.
Le Méridien Surat also caters to large-scale events and celebrations with over 100,000 square feet of flexible event space. The property includes two expansive pillarless ballrooms, Ruby and Emerald, along with outdoor lawns that can host weddings, conferences, and social gatherings. These venues are designed to adapt to a variety of formats while maintaining a sense of sophistication and comfort.
Strategically located just three kilometres from Surat International Airport, the hotel offers easy access to key attractions such as Surat Fort, Dumas Beach, Chauta Bazaar, and the bustling textile markets along Ring Road. Guests can also explore local culinary hotspots like Gaurav Path and Khaudra Gali, known for their lively evening food scenes.
A key highlight of the property is its participation in the brand’s Unlock Art™ programme. Through a collaboration with Surat Fort, guests receive complimentary access to the historic landmark, encouraging deeper engagement with the city’s cultural and artistic heritage.
