Samsung has rolled out the One UI 8.5 beta, packing harder-hitting upgrades in productivity, privacy and performance across the Galaxy ecosystem. The update focuses on faster creation, smoother connectivity and stronger protection for everyday users.

The revamped Photo Assist now lets users keep generating and editing images without stopping to save every version. All edits are tracked in a clean history view, making it easy to review and keep only the best results. Quick Share also gets smarter it automatically detects people in photos and suggests sharing with the right contacts instantly.

One UI 8.5 pushes device connectivity forward with new cross-device tools. Audio Broadcast uses LE Audio and Auracast to let users transmit both media audio and their own voice to nearby supported devices useful for group tours, events or shared listening.

Storage Share tightens the Galaxy ecosystem by showing files from other Galaxy phones, tablets and PCs directly within the My Files app. Users can also access their phone’s storage from other Samsung devices, including TVs.

The update boosts protection with features designed to keep devices safe even if they’re lost or stolen. Theft Protection safeguards the phone and its data, while Failed Authentication Lock automatically locks the screen after repeated failed attempts. More settings now require identity verification, giving users tighter control over their privacy.

The One UI 8.5 beta will debut for the Galaxy S25 series in select markets Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK and the U.S. starting December 8. Eligible users can sign up through the Samsung Members app.
