Days after India’s military strike in Pahalgam post a deadly terror attack, Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs posted a strange message on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday. The post appealed for international financial help, citing severe economic stress after the attack.
It was direct. It even tagged the World Bank, IMF, and other global lenders. It claimed that Pakistan faced “significant losses” due to India’s Operation Sindoor.
Public Post, Instant Panic
The message triggered shock. Netizens debated whether Pakistan had openly accepted its involvement in recent events. Some called it an economic SOS.
The tweet urged international partners, including the IMF and World Bank, to extend immediate financial assistance.
It also mentioned a hit to Pakistan’s stock market and investor confidence.
Quick Deletion, Sudden U-Turn
Soon after, the ministry deleted the tweet. Hours later, it issued a new statement.
Now, it claimed the X account was hacked. It said authorities were investigating the “unauthorised” post.
This shift confused many. Especially because the post had remained live for a significant time before deletion.
Context: India’s Action After Pahalgam Attack
India launched Operation Sindoor after a terror ambush in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where soldiers lost their lives. It held Pakistan-based groups responsible.
India’s action led to regional tension. But Pakistan, while officially denying any role, now faces scrutiny after its X post.
Was it a cry for help? Or was it really a cyber attack? The government hasn’t provided technical proof yet.
