The TEACH MRT1 Hall at The Spastic Society of Tamil Nadu, Taramani, turned into a hub of inspiration on 27 April as 168 volunteers gathered for ‘PRAYAG 2025’. The annual meet, hosted by Avtar Human Capital Trust (AHCT), brought together the driving force behind Project Puthri — a mission focused on building career intentionality in underprivileged girls.
In her welcome address, Dr Saundarya Rajesh, Managing Trustee of AHCT, acknowledged the force of collective action. “We firmly believe in equipping underprivileged girls with career intent. Watching our girls pursue careers fills me with immense gratitude,” she shared. Project Puthri currently impacts over 15,000 girls across 150 schools in 15 locations, supported by 21 CSR partners and 520+ volunteers.

Senior Vice President Eswar Balasubramanian shared AHCT’s rising impact. Volunteer hours surged to 30,300 in 2024–25, a sharp jump from 11,687 in 2021–22. Intervention hours also rose from 2,090 to 12,500. He also unveiled a two-year fellowship to develop teaching and leadership capabilities among fellows.
Chief Guest Laks Krishnamoorthy, Vice President – Engineering and GM, Navis Software, praised AHCT’s mission. “Every Move Counts is not just our company’s motto — it aligns beautifully with AHCT’s values,” he said. Drawing from the event’s theme, he compared the gathering to a Sangam — a confluence of education, skills, and allyship.
Kalaiselvam, Assistant Education Officer from the Greater Chennai Corporation, shared a heartfelt message. “Seeing these girls shine reminds me of my journey. Project Puthri strikes an emotional chord with many of us in education,” she said.
Educator and Principal of Asan Memorial College, Dr T.S. Santhi, echoed the same. She noted how AHCT’s ripple effect is not just shaping students but inspiring educators too.
The event featured a creative skit showcasing the essence of volunteering, drawing cheers from the audience. With laughter, learning, and leadership in every moment, Prayag 2025 proved to be a melting pot of passion and purpose.
