In a remarkable display at the National Games 2025 in Dehradun, Sachin Yadav won a gold medal in the men’s javelin event with a record-breaking throw of 84.39 metres. This impressive feat surpassed the previous National Games record of 82.23 metres, set by Rajinder Singh in 2015.
Yadav’s fifth attempt not only secured him the top podium spot but also marked his fifth consecutive competition with a throw exceeding 80 metres. His recent performances include:

- National Open Athletics Championships in Bengaluru: 80.04m
- Federation Cup: 80.27m
- Indian Grand Prix 3 in Bengaluru: 82.69m
- All India Police Athletics Championships: 84.21m
Despite his stellar performance, Yadav fell just short of the automatic qualification mark of 85.50 metres for the upcoming World Athletics Championships. Reflecting on this, he stated, “My goal was to achieve the World Athletics automatic qualification mark, but I missed. I’m close to my goal and should be able to achieve it in the next competition.”
The silver medal was claimed by Uttar Pradesh’s Rohit Yadav with a throw of 80.47 metres, while Uttarakhand’s Vikas Sharma took bronze with a 79.33-metre effort.
Yadav’s consistent performances and record-breaking throw have positioned him as a rising star in Indian athletics, drawing comparisons to the nation’s top javelin throwers.
