A national workshop titled “Water Use Efficiency: Strategies for a Sustainable Future” was held in New Delhi to discuss improving water use in the domestic sector. It was organised by the Bureau of Water Use Efficiency (BWUE) under the National Water Mission (NWM) and the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA). The event brought together over 350 participants, including policymakers, industry leaders, and experts.

Union Minister of Jal Shakti C R Patil inaugurated the workshop. He emphasised the government’s dedication to water conservation through innovative and collaborative efforts. The Secretary of the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation delivered a keynote address. He highlighted policy initiatives and the need for multi-sectoral partnerships.

Discussions at the event focused on adopting low-flow fixtures and smart sanitary ware solutions to cut water consumption. Sessions covered topics such as enhancing water use efficiency in urban areas and scaling collaborative water management through case studies.

Experts shared insights into sustainable practices and advanced water management technologies. They presented real-world examples of successful models. An interactive session encouraged industries to adopt water-efficient technologies. It also fostered collaboration in domestic water management.

The workshop stressed the importance of innovative water-efficient products and low-flow fixtures. It also promoted smart sanitary ware, collaborative water management, and stronger policies to support water efficiency.
