Another security jolt to India’s busiest airport
A bomb threat triggered panic at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport early Tuesday. The alert came after a call claimed that an Indigo flight from Chandigarh to Mumbai carried explosives.
The flight, 6E 6045, landed in Mumbai around 8:20 AM. Authorities received the threat call shortly after. It was reported via Mumbai Police control room.
Plane, passengers cleared after security drill
Immediately, security agencies sprang into action. The aircraft was moved to an isolation bay. Passengers were evacuated and screened. A full anti-sabotage check was carried out on the plane and luggage.
Nothing suspicious was found during the checks. Passengers were allowed to deboard safely, and operations resumed normally later.
Caller reportedly mentioned Pakistan, Operation Sindoor
The caller reportedly mentioned “Pakistan” and hinted at a possible “Operation Sindoor.” However, officials have not confirmed any specific link so far. Investigation is underway to trace the source of the call.
This marks the second bomb threat against Indigo in recent days. A similar scare was reported just days ago, raising concern about a possible pattern.
Security beefed up across major airports
Following the incident, security has been tightened at other metro airports too. CISF and local police are on high alert. A fresh SOP review is also expected soon.
Authorities are treating the threat seriously, despite it being a hoax. The motive behind the call is yet to be ascertained.
