Mumbai witnessed a divine musical celebration as Rahul Deshpande’s ‘Abhangwaari’, presented by Sugee Group, captivated a packed audience with soul-stirring devotion and timeless Marathi abhangas.
On the evening of 29th June 2025, the Sri Shanmukhananda Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Auditorium turned into a sanctum of spiritual resonance. The event, organised under the cultural banner of Vasantotsav, marked a tribute to Maharashtra’s devotional roots and the Warkari tradition, just ahead of Aashaadhi Ekadashi.
Renowned classical vocalist Rahul Deshpande led the night with his emotive and powerful performance. The concert was not just a musical showcase, but a spiritual experience. Drawing on the literary wealth of saint-poets like Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar, Deshpande connected past to present through divine verses.
The evening’s performance included devotional classics like ‘Sundar Te Dhyaan’, ‘Pandharicha Vaas’, ‘Shriranga Vitthala’, and the energetic ‘Khel Mandiyela’. Audiences responded with visible emotion, as compositions like ‘Bolava Vitthal’ and ‘Abir Gulaal’ filled the space with transcendent energy.
The auditorium, filled to capacity, resonated with collective devotion. Each note served as a bridge between tradition and modernity. The musical medley of ‘Kaal Dehasi’, ‘Bhagyada’, ‘Tirth Vitthal’, and ‘Majhe Maaher’ amplified the connection with Vitthal, the central deity of the Warkari faith.
Sugee Group’s support helped bring this vision to life. Speaking after the performance, Nishant Deshmukh, Founder and Managing Partner of Sugee Group, said, “We are overwhelmed with the response and the collective energy that filled the auditorium. ‘Abhangwaari’ was envisioned as a celebration of devotion, and witnessing communities come together in such spiritual harmony reaffirms our belief in the power of cultural legacy.”
The programme’s emotional crescendo drew standing ovations and misty eyes. For many in attendance, it became more than a concert, it was an inner pilgrimage. The city’s cultural heartbeat was once again aligned with its spiritual heritage. As Mumbai prepares for Aashaadhi Ekadashi, Abhangwaari left behind echoes of Vitthal’s name and reminded everyone of the unifying power of music and devotion.
