Veteran lyricist Sameer Anjaan unveiled the title song of the upcoming Hindi patriotic historical film Azad Bharath at a special music launch event held in Mumbai. The event witnessed the presence of the film’s director and lead actress Roopa Iyer, actress Indira Tiwari, members of the cast and crew, and media representatives.
Penned by Sameer Anjaan, the title song reflects themes of courage, sacrifice, and national pride that lie at the heart of Azad Bharath. Rooted in the spirit of India’s freedom movement, the song seeks to evoke emotion while staying faithful to the historical context of the film. The lyrics aim to capture the determination and resilience of those who fought for independence, particularly highlighting lesser-known stories from that era.
Speaking at the event, Sameer Anjaan described the experience of writing the title track as deeply meaningful. He said the project gave him an opportunity to engage with narratives of bravery and selflessness that are often underrepresented in mainstream cinema. According to the lyricist, music remains a powerful medium to bring history closer to contemporary audiences.
The music of the title song blends traditional Indian sounds with modern orchestration, complementing the film’s period setting while adding emotional depth. Composer Gautham Srivatsaa has crafted the soundtrack to enhance the narrative without overpowering its historical essence.
Azad Bharath features a strong ensemble cast including Shreyas Talpade, Suresh Oberoi, Roopa Iyer, Indira Tiwari, Dr. Subhash Chandra, Priyanshu Chatterjee, and Suchendra Prasad. The film is produced under the banner India Classic Arts.
Directed and produced by Roopa Iyer, Azad Bharath is an ambitious Hindi-language period drama based on the Indian National Army, also known as the Azad Hind Fauj. The film places special emphasis on the women’s wing of the INA, the Rani of Jhansi Regiment, also referred to as the Rani Laxmibai Regiment. The narrative sheds light on the contribution of women freedom fighters who played a vital role in India’s struggle for independence.
The film is produced by Roopa Iyer, Jaya Gopal AB, and Rajendra Rajan, with Zee Studios handling its distribution. Roopa Iyer has also written the screenplay and dialogues for the film, bringing a focused and research-driven approach to the subject.
Azad Bharath is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 2, 2026, coinciding with the birth anniversary month of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, reinforcing the film’s historical and patriotic significance
