Filmmaker Kushagra Sharma is set to make his feature film directorial debut with The Great Escape: Faraar, marking a new milestone in his career. Known for his internationally acclaimed short films showcased in Paris, Budapest, Hong Kong, and at MAMI Mumbai, Sharma now steps into mainstream Hindi cinema with a project that reflects his signature storytelling style—psychologically nuanced, emotionally rich, and globally resonant.
In a casting choice that immediately stands out, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will play a physics professor at the centre of a high-stakes global heist narrative. Siddiqui’s character embodies intelligence, control, and subtle vulnerability, perfectly suited to his reputation for portraying complex, layered roles. His presence promises a performance grounded in realism and internal tension, avoiding theatrical excess while bringing depth to the film’s intricate storyline.
Kushagra Sharma expressed his excitement about the collaboration: “Nawaz sir brings an unmatched honesty to every role. For Faraar, I needed an actor who could communicate through stillness—someone who understands the psychology of conflict without needing loud notes. He was my first choice, and I’m grateful he believed in our world and said yes.”
The ensemble cast includes Nimisha Sajjan, Trisha, Parth Bhalerao, Vikram Kochhar, and Gavie Chahal, each contributing significantly to the narrative and emotional structure. Adding an international dimension, Hollywood actor Ilia Volok joins the cast, highlighting the film’s global ambition and cross-continental appeal.
Producer Srishti Sharma has been central to shaping the film’s identity beyond its script. Her vision has guided the selection of an international cast and crew, ensuring creative cohesion while balancing artistic depth and production precision. A source close to the production noted that Srishti prioritizes alignment with the film’s emotional core, ensuring every collaborator—actor or technician—supports its thematic vision.
Currently in its final production phase, the team has completed acting workshops, rehearsals, and refined pre-production planning, and is progressing through post-production. Focus now is on narrative tightening, visual consistency, and sound design, ensuring the film delivers a polished, globally resonant experience.
The Great Escape: Faraar positions itself as a bold new voice in Hindi cinema, blending intellect and emotion while using physics as a lens to explore consequence, logic, and human unpredictability within a high-stakes global heist.
