Actor Vishaal Mohan, who will soon be seen in Yadav Ji Ki Love Story, has opened up about his unconventional journey in the film industry. While many aspire to face the camera, Vishaal Mohan began his career behind it, training as an assistant director before destiny steered him towards acting.
Vishaal Mohan started his career as an assistant director on Guzaarish under Sanjay Leela Bhansali and later worked on Aisha. Filmmaking was his original dream, but acting unexpectedly entered his life. He recalls that although he always wanted to direct, opportunities in front of the camera gradually began to shape his path.
His turning point came when he was cast as the lead in the television show U Turn – Zindagi Ki Oor, where he completed nearly 150 episodes. The show gave him visibility and confidence as a performer. Over the next two years, he continued working as a television lead before moving into advertising, featuring in around 80 to 100 commercials. In 2018, he made a firm decision to shift his focus entirely to films.
Vishaal Mohan’s first major film opportunity came with Game 100 Crore Ka. Although two of his projects did not release, he remained patient and optimistic. Now, with three films scheduled for release back to back, he believes his real cinematic journey has finally begun.
In Yadav Ji Ki Love Story, Vishaal Mohan plays a sincere and grounded young man. In Aashiqui Imtehaan Leti Hai, directed by Shareeph Mansuri, he portrays a government officer. Meanwhile, Mehndi 2, directed by Hamid Ali, presents him in a completely different look and character. He says he enjoys roles that challenge him and push him beyond his comfort zone.
Vishaal Mohan also credits his early experiences on film sets for shaping his work ethic. Observing Hrithik Roshan during Guzaarish left a lasting impression on him, especially the actor’s discipline and professionalism. He also admires Ranbir Kapoor and closely studies his performances.
As an outsider in the industry, Vishaal Mohan faced financial and professional challenges. To sustain himself, he diversified into hosting events, launching his own event company, producing web series and starting a YouTube channel. Despite setbacks, he never gave up.
Today, Vishaal Mohan continues to refine his craft by constantly observing people and performances, believing that curiosity and consistency are essential for a lasting career in cinema.
