Mumbai, September 3, 2026: Education is often described as the foundation of a strong nation, and teachers are the pillars that support it. Recognising this vital role, Navneet Foundation has spent the last decade working to strengthen the teaching community through its Teachers’ Training Programme. As the initiative completes 10 successful years, the Foundation is celebrating a remarkable journey that has positively influenced nearly 35,000 teachers across Maharashtra.
Launched in June 2016 as part of Navneet Foundation’s social responsibility efforts, the Teachers’ Training Programme was inspired by the vision of Mr. Anil Gala, Director of Navneet Education Limited. Over the years, the programme has been guided by Ms. Basanti Roy, former Education Officer, whose leadership has played a significant role in its growth and success.
To commemorate this milestone, Navneet Foundation organised a Decade Completion Celebration at its Dadar auditorium in Mumbai. The event brought together education professionals, trainers and teachers who have contributed to the initiative over the years. Mr. Rajesh Kankal, Deputy Director of Education, Mumbai Division, and Dr. Vaishali Veer, Education Inspector, South Mumbai, attended the programme as Chief Guests. Several experts and educators were also honoured for their valuable contribution to the cause of teacher development.
Over the past ten years, Navneet Foundation has conducted around 670 workshops across Maharashtra. These programmes have reached teachers in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur, Osmanabad, Latur, Nanded, Yavatmal, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Amravati, Akola, Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar, among other regions.
The training sessions focus on subjects that directly impact classroom learning and educational outcomes. Topics include Mathematics, English, Marathi, Activity Sheets, Scholarship Examinations, School Leadership and the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Currently, special sessions are being conducted to help teachers understand and effectively use newly revised textbooks. Teachers from both aided and unaided schools participate in these programmes free of cost.
One of the distinguishing features of Navneet Foundation’s approach is its emphasis on practical and interactive learning. Instead of relying solely on traditional lectures, the workshops encourage activity-based learning, group discussions and collaborative problem-solving. Subject experts carefully design the sessions, ensuring that teachers receive relevant and updated knowledge that can be immediately applied in classrooms.
The impact of the programme has been visible over the years. Many educators have shared feedback highlighting improvements in teaching quality, classroom engagement and student performance, particularly in scholarship examinations. Such outcomes have strengthened the programme’s reputation within the education community.
The Foundation’s commitment to teachers was especially evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. When schools remained closed in 2020, Navneet launched the NavDisha Portal and NavDisha Mobile App to ensure continuous professional learning for educators. Today, these platforms provide free access to educational articles, videos, government resolutions, circulars, book introductions and inspiring success stories. Nearly 20,000 teachers regularly benefit from these digital resources.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anil Gala, Director of Navneet Education Limited, said that investing in teachers is one of the most meaningful ways to contribute to society. He noted that the programme has always focused on equipping educators with modern skills, practical teaching methods and a supportive professional network. As the initiative enters its next decade, Navneet Foundation remains committed to strengthening the teaching community and contributing to the future of education.
With ten years of consistent effort, thousands of trained educators and a growing digital ecosystem, Navneet Foundation’s Teachers’ Training Programme has emerged as a respected model for teacher development. Its journey reflects the belief that when teachers are empowered, students benefit, schools improve and the nation moves forward.
