A new book launched by author Chetan Bhagat aims to explain chiropractic care, patient assessment and the practical aspects of running a clinic.
Mumbai : Understanding the causes of physical discomfort and the available approaches to care can help people make more informed health decisions. With this in mind, Dr Rajneesh Kant has introduced Chiropractor & Physiotherapist, an informative book launched by author Chetan Bhagat at an event in Mumbai.
Published by TS Publication, the book introduces readers to chiropractic care, its background, clinical practices and the fundamentals of establishing a chiropractic clinic. It is designed to explain the subject in accessible language for readers who want to learn more about hands-on approaches to musculoskeletal health.
A live demonstration at the launch
One of the highlights of the event was a live demonstration by Dr Kant, who performed a wrist adjustment on Chetan Bhagat. Bhagat reportedly expressed relief following the demonstration and appreciated the technique.
For Dr Kant, sharing the stage with Bhagat was also a personal milestone. He spoke about reading Bhagat’s novels since childhood and watching films adapted from his stories.
Recalling the message associated with the film 3 Idiots, which encourages people to follow their passion, Dr Kant said that pursuing his chosen profession gave him satisfaction. He also spoke about his ambition to build recognition for his work in India and internationally.
A vision for a pain-aware India
Dr Kant describes his professional mission through the statement, “A pain-free India is not just my dream; it is our collective resolve.”
The book seeks to improve awareness of chiropractic care and help readers understand its principles and applications. Its ten chapters cover the foundations of chiropractic practice, clinical assessment, care considerations for athletes and older adults, spinal health, common misconceptions, patient education, self-care and clinic management.
The book also introduces the RKM, or Rajneesh Kant Method, which Dr Kant describes as an approach developed through his professional practice. A future publication is expected to explore his techniques in greater detail.
Indian traditions and modern chiropractic
Dr Kant draws connections between traditional Indian narratives and the broader idea of manual healing. He refers to the story of Lord Krishna and Kubja as an example of how physical correction through touch can be interpreted in a traditional context.
However, these cultural interpretations should be distinguished from the documented history of modern chiropractic. The profession developed in the United States in the late nineteenth century, with Daniel David Palmer playing a central role in its establishment.
Chiropractic care commonly involves hands-on techniques directed at the spine and other joints. Its suitability depends on an individual’s condition, and it is important to seek assessment from a qualified healthcare professional. A demonstration or personal account of relief does not establish that a treatment is effective for every patient.
An introductory guide for readers
Beyond treatment techniques, the book addresses the practical side of professional practice, including qualifications, patient assessment and clinic management. It aims to give aspiring practitioners and interested readers an introductory understanding of the field.
The launch was attended by transgender spiritual leader and Jagatguru Mahamandaleshwar Himangi Sakhi Ji. Professor Dr Ali Irani, a physiotherapist, also extended his blessings to Dr Kant and his team.
Through Chiropractor & Physiotherapist, Dr Kant hopes to make information about chiropractic care more accessible and encourage greater awareness of musculoskeletal health. The book brings together an introduction to the subject, his professional perspective and practical considerations for those interested in learning more.
