10th March 2026, Mumbai: The Sampark Foundation today hosted the ‘AI for Education Impact’ Maharashtra State Action Dialogue at Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, Mumbai. The event, inaugurated by Shri Ranjit Singh Deol (IAS, Principal Secretary, School Education and Sports Department, Maharashtra), brought together education leaders, district programme heads, teachers, and AI experts from across India.
The central question addressed was why, despite over 95% primary enrolment and widespread school infrastructure, many children still leave school without the ability to read or perform basic arithmetic. The dialogue explored how artificial intelligence can meaningfully improve learning outcomes while supporting teachers’ skills rather than replacing them. Three panel discussions focused on AI’s role in real-time education decision-making and its potential impact on students across India.
Commenting on the event, Mr. Vineet Nayar, Founder and Chairman, Sampark Foundation, said, “Twenty years ago, our goal was simple: every child in a government school deserves the same quality of learning as a child in the best private school. AI is not a disruption but a tool to realise that vision. When implemented behind the teacher, AI can enable personalised learning and deepen curiosity in classrooms.”
Celebrating 20 years of technology-enabled education, the Sampark Foundation is expanding its initiatives in Maharashtra with a Rs 42 crore investment. The Foundation has already reached over 10 lakh children and trained more than 50,000 teachers across 16,000 government schools. It has set up 17,000 smart classrooms, with plans to add another 15,000, enhancing both teaching and learning experiences.
Shri Ranjit Singh Deol, IAS, highlighted the transformative potential of AI, stating, “AI can act as a force multiplier when combined with pedagogy. Maharashtra welcomes its role in advancing quality learning and robust digital infrastructure. Sampark’s teacher-centric approach is key to scaling this transformation.”
At the core of the discussions was the Sampark AI Framework, designed to tackle a critical challenge: government primary school teachers spend 81% of their time on administrative tasks, leaving just 19% for actual teaching. The Framework automates lesson planning, content sequencing, and reporting, while providing offline-first multimedia content to reclaim teaching time.
The event also introduced Sampark’s AI-based real-time classroom monitoring platform, set to be deployed across 80,000 government schools at no cost. This system enables education leaders to track teaching data, monitor classroom engagement, and identify lagging schools early, allowing faster, evidence-based decisions without adding administrative burden.
