BMC has launched a massive clean-up drive in Mumbai. The operation focuses on Eastern and Western Expressways. It runs from 17 March, Monday to 22 March, Saturday.
The campaign aims to remove waste, plastic, and debris. It also includes cleaning footpaths, dividers, and service roads. BMC has deployed extra workers and cleaning vehicles. Teams will work across both highways daily.
The drive will cover bus stops and roadside trees. Dumped vehicles, illegal hoardings, and other obstructions will be removed. Public toilets along the expressways will also be cleaned. BMC plans to repair broken footpaths and repaint road dividers where needed.
Officials say the drive is urgent. The expressways collect large amounts of garbage. Illegal dumping worsens the situation. Authorities plan strict monitoring to prevent repeat offences.
Residents have welcomed the initiative. Many complain about neglected road conditions. Regular cleaning could improve hygiene and traffic movement.
The BMC has warned against littering. Violators may face fines. Officials say more such campaigns will follow. The goal is a cleaner, healthier Mumbai.
