Cleartrip, a Flipkart company, has introduced Book@0, a new hotel booking feature that allows travellers to reserve hotel rooms without making an upfront payment. The service enables customers to book their preferred accommodation for ₹0, without entering card details, and pay only closer to their check-in date.
The feature is available across more than 7 lakh domestic and international hotels, making it one of the company’s biggest initiatives aimed at simplifying hotel reservations for Indian travellers. With Book@0, Cleartrip hopes to address a common concern among travellers who want to secure attractive hotel rates while keeping their travel plans flexible.
Traditionally, travellers are required to pay in advance or provide card details to confirm a hotel reservation. This often becomes a hurdle, especially when travel plans are still uncertain. Book@0 removes this barrier by allowing customers to confirm a booking immediately while postponing payment until a specified window before their stay.
According to Cleartrip, the process is straightforward. Travellers can select their preferred hotel and room, complete the booking for ₹0, and later make the payment through the Cleartrip app before the payment deadline. During this period, customers do not need to provide card information at the time of booking, and they also avoid cancellation charges if their plans change before the payment window.
Akhil Malik, Head – Hotels at Cleartrip, said the feature has been designed with changing consumer behaviour in mind. He noted that an increasing number of Indian travellers, particularly Gen Z users, prefer planning trips through their smartphones while avoiding immediate financial commitments.
According to Malik, Book@0 removes one of the final obstacles preventing many customers from completing online hotel bookings. By allowing users to secure both their preferred hotel and room rate without paying immediately, the company expects the feature to encourage more people to book hotels online.
The company believes the feature will be particularly useful for leisure travellers planning holidays well in advance. It is also expected to benefit international travellers, who often face financial losses when unexpected changes force them to cancel prepaid hotel bookings.
Book@0 is part of Cleartrip’s broader strategy to make travel planning more flexible and accessible. The company says it is focused on solving common traveller pain points while improving the overall booking experience through technology-driven solutions.
Over the coming months, Cleartrip plans to introduce additional hotel-focused products aimed at making booking, payments and stays more convenient for customers. These launches are expected to build on the momentum created by Book@0 and strengthen the company’s position in India’s competitive online travel market.
Founded in 2006 and acquired by Flipkart in 2021, Cleartrip has expanded its portfolio beyond flights to include hotels, trains and buses. The company continues to invest in customer-focused innovations designed to offer greater convenience, flexibility and value for Indian travellers.
With Book@0, Cleartrip is betting that giving customers more flexibility before payment will make hotel booking easier and encourage more travellers to plan their trips with confidence.
