Shri Amardeep Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), chaired a high-level meeting to review key issues affecting mega infrastructure projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The meeting, attended by senior officials from Central Ministries, State Governments, and Project Proponents, aimed to expedite issue resolution through enhanced coordination facilitated by the Project Monitoring Group (PMG).
The review covered 21 issues across 14 significant projects, including four projects under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, with a combined project value exceeding Rs 13,162 crore. Additionally, seven issues related to a private project worth Rs 600 crore were discussed.
A major focus was placed on the transmission projects of the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat. Once operational, the park is expected to generate approximately 81 billion units of clean electricity annually, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. It is also projected to create around 15,200 green jobs in sectors such as construction, engineering, operations, and maintenance.
Reliance Jio’s 5G/4G expansion project was also reviewed, highlighting its potential benefits, including faster speeds, low latency, and improved coverage. These advancements will facilitate ultra-high-definition streaming and the development of applications like IoT and smart city solutions.
The Secretary, DPIIT, underscored the importance of strengthening the institutional framework for project monitoring and instructed relevant authorities to adopt a proactive approach in addressing pending issues. He also encouraged private sector proponents to leverage the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) (https://pmg.dpiit.gov.in/) for expediting project implementation and ensuring timely resolution of concerns through coordinated efforts between the Central Government, State Authorities, and Private Stakeholders.
