Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) has reinforced India’s defence capabilities by supplying critical equipment for three newly commissioned Indian Navy warships—INS Nilgiri, INS Surat, and INS Vaghsheer.

The Indian Navy inducted these advanced vessels into service today:

  • INS Nilgiri, the first frigate of the Project 17A class
  • INS Surat, the final destroyer of the Project 15B class
  • INS Vaghsheer, the last Scorpene-class submarine

KBL provided high-performance canned motor pumps (CMP) for the ships’ heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, ensuring durability and efficiency in both seawater and freshwater operations.

With a strong engineering foundation, KBL has established itself as a key player in manufacturing pumps, valves, hydro-turbines, and related systems. The company serves a range of sectors, including infrastructure, power, oil & gas, marine, and defence, along with domestic and agricultural applications.

By contributing to these indigenous warships, KBL continues to support India’s self-reliance in defence and maritime strength.
