While most teenagers are still deciding what career path to choose after school, 16-year-old Lakshmanan Meyyappan has already made history. The young finance enthusiast has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest male Chartered Accountant, achieving the milestone at just 16 years and 141 days in Dubai.
Lakshmanan’s journey began during the COVID-19 pandemic, shortly after completing his Class 10 board examinations. Introduced to accounting by his mother, who is also an ACCA professional, he developed an interest in finance and decided to pursue the ACCA qualification at the age of 15.
In just about a year, he successfully completed the qualification, becoming the youngest male Chartered Accountant recognised by Guinness World Records. However, his academic journey did not stop there.
Lakshmanan went on to earn the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter and is currently pursuing an MSc in Finance. Alongside his studies, he works as a Senior Research Analyst at Century Financial in Dubai, where he is involved in investment research, financial analysis and market decision-making.

Speaking about his Guinness World Records achievement, Lakshmanan said the recognition was meaningful, but his focus was never on breaking records.
“This milestone means a lot to me, but I have never approached qualifications as a race. What mattered was understanding how finance works in the real world and building skills that remain relevant over time. When learning is driven by curiosity rather than speed, the outcome is far more meaningful,” he said.
Beyond academics and finance, Lakshmanan also enjoys designing and building watches during his free time, showcasing his interest in creativity alongside numbers.
His journey highlights how passion, discipline and consistency can help students achieve remarkable milestones at a young age. Instead of following a conventional route, Lakshmanan chose to explore professional qualifications early, balancing education with practical industry experience.
His achievement also reflects the growing number of students exploring global professional certifications alongside traditional higher education.
