Raja Shivaji continues its dream run at the box office as the historical epic crossed the ₹75 crore mark during its second weekend. Backed by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company, the film has emerged as one of the biggest successes in Marathi cinema history.
Directed by Riteish Deshmukh, the film has managed to sustain strong momentum even after a record-breaking opening week. According to the latest box office figures, “Raja Shivaji” collected ₹75.10 crore nett in India within just 10 days of release, driven by packed theatres, positive word of mouth and strong family audiences across Maharashtra and several other regions.
The film had already created history during its opening weekend by setting new benchmarks for Marathi cinema. However, what has impressed trade experts even more is its stability during the weekdays and the sharp jump in collections during the second weekend.
The first week total of the film stood at ₹57.70 crore nett. On its second Friday, the film added another ₹3.50 crore to its tally. Collections witnessed a strong rise on Saturday with ₹6.30 crore, followed by an even bigger Sunday collection of ₹7.60 crore. This brought the overall India nett collection to ₹75.10 crore.
Industry observers believe that the emotional connection audiences have with the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is playing a major role in the film’s extraordinary success. Families, students and history enthusiasts are continuing to visit cinemas in large numbers, turning the film into a cultural event rather than just a movie release.
“Raja Shivaji” has also benefited from strong repeat viewership and positive audience reactions on social media. Many viewers have praised the film’s grand scale, powerful storytelling, emotional depth and visual presentation. The film’s historical narrative and patriotic themes have resonated strongly with audiences across generations.
The success of the film has also become a landmark moment for Marathi cinema. Over the years, regional cinema has steadily expanded its reach, but “Raja Shivaji” has taken Marathi films to an entirely new commercial level. Trade analysts are now calling it a game-changing moment for the industry.
So far, the film has recorded several major box office milestones, including the biggest opening day for a Marathi film, the biggest opening weekend for a Marathi film, the highest single-day collection for a Marathi film and the highest week one collection in Marathi cinema history.
With strong momentum still continuing and audience interest remaining high, “Raja Shivaji” is expected to maintain its successful theatrical run in the coming weeks as well. The film’s historic performance has once again highlighted the growing popularity and scale of Marathi cinema among audiences across India.
