Rishab Shetty recalls his struggling days. It came alive once again when the much-awaited Kantara Chapter 1 press meet was held in Mumbai on 29 September.

The event brought together the film’s core team, including writer, director, and actor Rishab Shetty, his wife Pragati Shetty who designed the costumes, actress Rukmini Vasanth, producer Chaluve Gowda of Hombale Films, and Ravina Tondon’s husband and founder of AA Films Anil Thadani.

The evening began with high energy as the audience experienced the powerful Rebel Song “Ye Mahal Ye Rath Tere, Bole Re Kantara,” sung by Diljit Dosanjh and performed by Diljit Dosanjh and Rishab itself. This musical moment set the stage for a teaser showcase followed by the official trailer launch, which has already created a buzz among cinema lovers.

Alongside the trailer reveal, the team had a special surprise for fans – the unveiling of the official Kantara comic book. Rishab personally released the first copy with his colleagues.

The comic is designed to expand the universe of Kantara Chapter, offering fans a chance to engage with its stories and characters beyond the big screen. It reflects the maker’s vision to bring the essence of their world into multiple creative formats, making the narrative richer and more accessible.

Rishab Shetty opens up about his struggles

In a heartfelt conversation, Rishab Shetty reflected on his personal journey. He admitted that Mumbai holds a unique place in his life. Back in 2008, he worked as an office boy for a production company in Andheri West, Mumbai. During those days, he also took on the role of a producer’s driver just to survive.

“Cinema has changed my life completely,” he said. “At that time, I never imagined I would sit here today receiving so much love, respect, and blessings. We used to eat vada pav on the streets of Andheri West, and that felt like luxury then. For me, cinema is God, and being an artist has brought me everything I have.”

His story of perseverance gave the press meet a personal and emotional touch, connecting his own hardships with the larger success of Kantara Chapter 1.

The way Rishab spoke about his past served as a reminder of how unpredictable and transformative the film industry can be. His rise from working odd jobs in Mumbai to directing and starring in one of the most awaited Indian films is a tale of determination.
