For many aspiring musicians, getting noticed in the film industry can take years of struggle. For music composer and singer Prateek Walia, a single song performed during an Instagram Live session became the turning point that changed his career.
Prateek is now making a major mark in Bollywood with Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt’s upcoming horror film starring Mimoh Chakraborty. Set to release on June 12, 2026, the film features a soundtrack largely shaped by Prateek, who has composed seven of the album’s nine songs. He has also lent his voice to one track and written lyrics for two songs, showcasing his versatility as a composer, singer and songwriter.
The journey behind this achievement is as interesting as the music itself. During the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, Vikram Bhatt frequently interacted with followers through Instagram Live sessions. On one such occasion, Prateek got the opportunity to perform an original composition. The song caught Bhatt’s attention and became the beginning of a professional relationship that would later transform his career.
The connection deepened when Prateek moved to Mumbai in 2022. Like many newcomers, he spent time visiting production houses and meeting industry professionals in the hope of sharing his work. One day, Vikram Bhatt recognised him outside his office from that Instagram session years earlier. What followed were meetings, creative discussions and eventually Prateek’s first film song, Aashiqui Mein.
The track holds special significance for the musician because it marked his official entry into feature films. Today, Aashiqui Mein forms part of the soundtrack of Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past and remains one of the most personal songs in the album for him.
The soundtrack itself offers a wide range of emotions and musical styles. Janmo Janam, sung by Mohit Chauhan, brings a sense of longing and timeless romance, while Raaz Hai, voiced by Palak Muchhal, adds mystery and emotional depth to the film’s supernatural setting. Other tracks such as Nazrein Tu Mila, Nazrein Tu Mila 2.0 and Lauta Do further expand the album’s emotional landscape, blending romance, nostalgia and contemporary sounds.
For Prateek, one of the most rewarding aspects of the project was collaborating with singers whose music he grew up listening to. Working with established voices such as Mohit Chauhan and Palak Muchhal gave him valuable creative experiences, while collaborations with newer artists allowed him to experiment and explore fresh musical ideas.
Before entering mainstream cinema, Prateek built his identity through independent music and cover songs. He gained attention when one of his acoustic covers became a trending music video, helping him reach a wider audience. Over the years, he continued composing and performing original music while steadily establishing himself in the industry.
Following his contributions to projects such as Bloody Ishq and Tumko Meri Kasam, Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past represents another important step in his growing career. Adding to an already exciting period, Prateek has also composed the title track for the upcoming Gujarati film Badhu Alright Che, which is scheduled for release on the same day.
From a chance encounter on Instagram to composing the majority of a Bollywood film soundtrack, Prateek Walia’s story reflects how talent, persistence and the right opportunity can come together to create a remarkable journey.
