AI avatars are revolutionising digital interactions, serving as personalised, AI-driven personas that function like human influencers across virtual platforms. As this technology advances, its applications in marketing, content creation, and entertainment continue to expand.

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Avtr Meta Labs are organising the AI Avatar Creator Challenge to encourage innovators to explore AI avatar potential. So far, 1,251 participants, including 102 international entrants, have registered.
Part of WAVES and ‘Create in India’ Initiative
The challenge is part of the Create in India Challenge Season 1 and aligns with WAVES (World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit) Pillar 2, which focuses on AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality). WAVES aims to elevate India’s media and entertainment sector by emphasising four key pillars: Broadcasting & Infotainment, AVGC-XR, Digital Media & Innovation, and Films. The event will run from 1-4 May 2025 at Jio World Convention Centre and Jio World Gardens, Mumbai.
Challenge Guidelines

- Participants must be at least 18 years old and provide valid ID verification.
- The competition welcomes global creators, allowing multiple submissions as long as each entry is uniquely AI-generated.
- Each avatar must be original and must not infringe on real-life or AI models; violations will result in disqualification.
Registration & Evaluation
Participants need to register exclusively through the Avtr Meta Labs website by 28 February 2025. The judging panel will evaluate entries based on finesse, technology, and purpose, using a points-based system.
Prizes & Recognition
The selection process will narrow down entries to the top 10, with the top three receiving invitations to present at WAVES 2025. The winner will earn INR 100,000, while all finalists will receive certificates from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Winning AI avatars will also gain exposure through marketing and promotional materials.
