The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), in partnership with MyGov, has launched “Innovate with GoIStats,” a data-visualisation hackathon focused on “Data-Driven Insights for Viksit Bharat.” The initiative aims to encourage students and researchers to analyse official statistics and generate impactful data insights.
Participants will work with datasets from the National Statistics Office (NSO), including the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), Household Consumer Expenditure Survey (HCES), Annual Survey of Industries (ASI), Consumer Price Index (CPI), and Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The goal is to produce data-driven visualisations that can aid evidence-based policymaking.
The hackathon will take place on the MyGov platform from 25th February 2025 to 31st March 2025. Eligible participants include undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as researchers. A panel of industry and academic experts will evaluate the entries.
The top 30 entries will receive cash prizes. The first prize winner will receive ₹2 Lakhs, while two second-place winners will get ₹1 Lakh each. Additionally, two third-place winners will receive ₹50,000 each, and 25 consolation prize winners will be awarded ₹20,000 each.
This hackathon provides an opportunity for young minds to engage with official statistics and contribute to data-driven policymaking for India’s development.
