Adani Navbharat Developers Private Limited (ANDPL), the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) implementing the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP), has launched a new AI-powered platform called Dharavi Didi for the residents of Dharavi. Available 24×7, the platform functions as an interactive AI assistant that addresses queries related to the Dharavi redevelopment and rehabilitation process.
According to ANDPL, the platform offers official and verified information on:
- Resident surveys
- Eligibility for rehabilitation
- Required documents
- Rehabilitation process
- Project updates and redevelopment stages
Why ‘Dharavi Didi’?
The name Dharavi Didi reflects the role the platform is intended to play. Like an elder sister who patiently listens, understands, explains and guides, Dharavi Didi has been created as a companion for the people of Dharavi, helping them navigate every stage of the redevelopment process while strengthening transparency between the company and residents.
“As the redevelopment unfolds, Dharavi Didi will continue to evolve with new information and services, helping residents stay informed and navigate every milestone with confidence. For a project that will transform one of the world’s largest informal settlements, earning trust through transparent communication is every bit as important as building new homes,” the company statement said.
Built with simplicity in mind, Dharavi Didi has been designed to ensure that even first-time users can easily access and understand official information related to the redevelopment project.

Initiative to improve transparency
The launch of Dharavi Didi is part of ANDPL’s ongoing efforts to engage with the people of Dharavi through extensive on-ground outreach while maintaining transparency and making project-related information more accessible.
Keeping in mind Dharavi’s rich cultural and linguistic diversity, the company said the platform will offer easy-to-access communication options, including voice and video calls through WhatsApp. Initially, the AI assistant will support Marathi, Hindi and English, while Tamil, Telugu and Gujarati will be added in the coming months.
“Whether residents want to understand surveys, eligibility, required documents or project updates, Dharavi Didi is available round the clock to provide clear answers in a simple and conversational manner. Alongside our ongoing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) initiatives, this is another step towards making authentic information easily accessible to every Dharavikar. Residents no longer have to wait for office hours to receive answers from official sources,” the company official was quoted in the statement.
“Our objective is to ensure that every resident has direct access to accurate and verified information. Dharavi Didi is designed to answer questions with clarity, build confidence through transparency and help residents make informed decisions throughout the redevelopment journey,” the official added.
About the Dharavi Redevelopment Project
In November 2022, the Adani Group emerged as the winning bidder for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project, committing an initial investment of ₹5,069 crore to redevelop and transform Asia’s largest slum.
Adani Navbharat Developers Private Limited (ANDPL), a joint venture between the Government of Maharashtra and the Adani Group, is responsible for executing the project. The redevelopment has been described as one of the world’s largest urban rejuvenation projects and is also considered a major step towards making Mumbai slum-free.
Under the project timeline, ANDPL has been given seven years to construct the rehabilitation homes, while the Maharashtra government has set an overall deadline of 17 years for the complete redevelopment of Dharavi. According to officials, nearly 1.25 lakh to 1.5 lakh new homes will be built to rehabilitate around 10 lakh residents.
