The historic city of Kurukshetra in Haryana is set to witness a vibrant celebration of grassroots cricket as the Dream Tennis Cricket League Season 1 for the North Zone has been officially launched with great enthusiasm. The grand ceremony took place in Umri, Kurukshetra, drawing the attention of cricket lovers, budding players and sports enthusiasts from across the region.
The event gained added prestige with the presence of former Indian cricketer and well known commentator Aakash Chopra, who attended as the chief guest. His participation made the launch memorable and served as a major source of inspiration for young cricketers aiming to build their careers in the sport.
During the ceremony, the organisers unveiled the official poster and team jerseys for the league. The event was attended by several prominent personalities associated with the tournament, including Chairman Somnath Gaba, Founder Ravi Kumar Gaba and Vinay Kamboj. Sports enthusiasts and dignitaries from Haripur in Yamunanagar and neighbouring regions also participated in the celebration, highlighting the growing excitement around the competition.
The Dream Tennis Cricket League will take place from 16 June to 21 June at Samana Bahu in Kurukshetra. The tournament will feature talented tennis cricket players from Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Organisers hope the competition will grow into one of the leading tennis cricket tournaments in North India and provide a valuable platform for emerging players.
Speaking on the occasion, Aakash Chopra shared insights from his own cricketing journey and emphasised the importance of giving talented players the opportunity to prove themselves. He noted that tennis cricket has become extremely popular across India and that leagues like this help uncover hidden talent from small towns and rural areas. He also encouraged young players to stay dedicated, disciplined and committed to the spirit of sportsmanship.
League Chairman Somnath Gaba stated that the tournament is recognised by the Tennis Cricket Sports Federation. It is being organised with the support of the Tennis Cricket Sports Association Haryana, while Ultimate Event Makers LLP will manage the event operations. The league will feature 12 teams, each consisting of 11 players, including one participant above the age of 35.
Founder Ravi Kumar Gaba explained that the main objective of the league is to provide young players with a professional platform and promote sports culture among youth. He also announced that player selection trials will begin in Rajasthan on 15 April.
During the ceremony, several players including Rohit Chandigarhya, Ashu from Yamunanagar, Aman Manjhi, Danny Mandi and Prince Kamboj were honoured with mementos for their contribution to the sport. The event concluded with optimism and excitement for the upcoming tournament, which promises competitive matches and fresh opportunities for talented cricketers in the region.
