Marathi cinema is set to welcome another gripping mystery thriller with the release of Drushya-Adrushya, a film that promises to blur the line between reality and illusion. After earning appreciation at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the much-anticipated film is now gearing up for its theatrical release across Maharashtra on June 19. The recently unveiled trailer has already sparked curiosity among cinema lovers with its suspense-filled narrative and intriguing characters.
Presented by the makers of successful Marathi films such as Subhedar, Sher Shivraj and Sapala, Drushya-Adrushya explores a complex mystery where every answer appears to lead to a new question. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Milind Lele, known for films like Kurukshetra, Bandishala and AB Aani CD, the movie combines psychological tension with an emotionally charged storyline.
The trailer introduces viewers to Rohit, a man who is promised an incentive of ₹25 lakh under mysterious circumstances. Even his wife, Tanvi, remains unaware of the reason behind this unexpected reward. However, the situation takes a shocking turn when their young daughter Isha suddenly disappears.
As police launch an investigation, the mystery becomes increasingly complicated. Hotel staff insist that Tanvi had checked in alone, while crucial CCTV cameras are found to be non-functional. Witness accounts begin to contradict one another, leaving investigators struggling to piece together the truth. The suspense deepens further when Rohit’s dead body is discovered, transforming what initially seemed like a missing-person case into a far more sinister mystery.
The film raises several unsettling questions. Did the incidents described by Tanvi actually occur? Is someone deliberately manipulating the investigation? Was Isha truly kidnapped, or did she never exist at all? Most importantly, who is responsible for Rohit’s death? These questions form the foundation of a narrative designed to keep audiences guessing until the very end.
The trailer’s thought-provoking tagline, “Is what we see always the truth? The unseen reality behind the visible…”, perfectly captures the essence of the story. The film appears to explore the fragile boundary between perception and reality, challenging viewers to question everything they witness on screen.
One of the major highlights of Drushya-Adrushya is the presence of actress Pooja Sawant in the lead role. Known for her memorable performances in Marathi and Hindi cinema, Pooja appears in a character unlike any she has portrayed before. Her expressions, emotional turmoil and mysterious circumstances create a strong sense of intrigue throughout the trailer.
The film also features a talented ensemble cast including Ashok Samarth, Suvrat Joshi, Hardik Joshi, Akshaya Gurav, Vidyadhar Joshi and Keya Ingle, all of whom play important roles in advancing the suspense-filled narrative.
Produced under the RST Canvas banner by Pradyot Pendharkar, Anil Varkhade, Dattaji Thorat, Dhananjay Thorat, Prithviraj Khedkar, Yuvaraj Khedkar and Ashwini Khedkar, the film boasts strong technical credentials. Cinematography is handled by Amol Salunke, while editing is by Sachin Wagh. The music, composed by Ashish Mujumdar and Devdatta Baji, with lyrics by Valay Mulgund, is expected to add emotional depth to the story.
With a compelling premise, a talented cast and a mystery that promises unexpected twists, Drushya-Adrushya is shaping up to be one of Marathi cinema’s most intriguing releases of the year.
