Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded a three-day visit to France from February 10-12, reinforcing India-France ties across artificial intelligence, defence, and strategic cooperation.

Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron co-chaired the AI Action Summit, building on discussions from previous summits in the UK and South Korea. India will host the next AI Summit, further cementing collaboration in AI governance and innovation.
The leaders discussed key global and regional issues, including UN reforms and multilateral cooperation. France reaffirmed its support for India’s permanent seat on the UN Security Council. Defence ties saw progress with ongoing collaboration on Scorpene submarines, missile systems, and joint military exercises. India also invited France to explore the Pinaka Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher system.
Bilateral trade and investment saw renewed momentum, with record trade levels in 2024 and enhanced cooperation in sectors like urban development, civil aviation, and healthcare. In space, both nations committed to deeper engagement through the India-France Strategic Space Dialogue in 2025.
Climate action remained a priority, with agreements on nuclear energy, ocean conservation, and disaster resilience. France and India will jointly support sustainable development projects in the Indo-Pacific.
Cultural and educational ties were also strengthened. The leaders endorsed initiatives to boost student exchanges, expand French language programs for Indian students, and enhance cooperation in sports ahead of India’s 2036 Olympic bid.
The visit underscored India and France’s shared vision for a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific, reaffirming their long-term partnership under the Horizon 2047 Roadmap.
