The Indian National Cine Academy (INCA) was officially announced in Mumbai as a pan-India cinematic institution aimed at bringing together India’s diverse film industries under a single national platform. Envisioned as a long-term institution for Indian cinema, INCA seeks to promote collaboration, knowledge-sharing, transparency, and credible recognition across languages, regions, and creative disciplines.
The announcement was made in the presence of leading filmmakers, producers, artists, and cultural voices from across the country. Among those in attendance were Rohit Shetty, Anand L Rai, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Dil Raju, Manoj Tiwari, Navraj Hans, Manmohan Shetty, Khushbu Sundar, Lakshmi Manchu, Ankur Garg, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, and Shibasish Sarkar, along with several other eminent industry professionals. The Producers Guild of India also came on board as the Chief Patron of the initiative.
Speaking at the launch, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Founder of INCA, said the academy is being built with clear intent and integrity. He stated that the vision is to create a permanent national institution that encourages collaboration across industries, ensures fair celebration of excellence, and establishes a universal talent database for Indian cinema.
Shibasish Sarkar, President of the Producers Guild of India, highlighted the significance of the initiative, noting that INCA represents an important step towards institutionalising collaboration, credibility, and transparent processes. He added that the academy aims to build a unified awards platform that recognises cinematic excellence across all Indian languages on equal and credible terms, and confirmed the Guild’s support as Chief Patron.
The first edition of the INCA Awards has been scheduled for 9 March in Mumbai, marking a key milestone in the establishment of the academy as a national cinematic institution.
INCA is designed to extend beyond an awards platform and function as a comprehensive ecosystem for Indian cinema. Its structure includes an annual Cinema Conclave, a transparent and process-driven awards framework, and the creation of a universal database of actors, technicians, and creative professionals spanning twelve Indian film industries. This initiative aims to enable cross-regional collaboration and strengthen the overall Indian film ecosystem.
