The Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron (1TS), comprising INS Sujata and ICGS Veera, departed from Sihanoukville, Cambodia, on 17 February, concluding a three-day visit aimed at bolstering maritime cooperation with the Royal Cambodian Navy (RCN).

During the visit, naval personnel engaged in discussions on cross-training, interoperability, regional security, and joint exercises. Senior Officer 1TS, Capt Anshul Kishore, met with RCN Commander Admiral Tea Vinh in Phnom Penh, along with other senior Cambodian naval officials. He also called on the Governor of Sihanoukville and Rear Admiral Mey Dina, Commander of Ream Naval Base.
As part of defence engagement efforts, India handed over a Small Arms Simulator to the Royal Cambodian Army. Naval trainees from both countries participated in friendly sports fixtures to enhance camaraderie. A guided tour of the Indian ships was organised for the local Indian community, and a reception onboard hosted diplomats, senior Cambodian military officials, and members of the Indian diaspora.
The visit reaffirmed India-Cambodia maritime ties and aligned with India’s SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) initiative.
