The Government of Karnataka has posthumously honoured Vikram S. Kirloskar, former Vice Chairman of Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), with the ‘Industrial Legacy’ Award at the Invest Karnataka 2025 Global Investors Meet. The award recognises his contributions to Karnataka’s industrial and economic growth, job creation, and local supplier development, solidifying the state’s position as a global manufacturing hub.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor also received the ‘Sunrise Sector Pioneer Award’ in the automotive category for innovation and sustainability.

An MIT graduate and a key figure in India’s manufacturing and automotive sectors, Kirloskar played a pivotal role in bringing Toyota to Karnataka and establishing TKM in Bidadi. Under his leadership, the company became a leader in green mobility, sustainable manufacturing, and skill development. He also contributed significantly to industry growth as former president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
His legacy includes the Toyota Technical Training Institute, which has provided world-class technical education and employment opportunities to thousands of young talents, particularly from rural Karnataka. TKM’s continued investments, including a third manufacturing plant, reflect his commitment to responsible industrialisation.
Accepting the award on his behalf, Geetanjali Kirloskar expressed gratitude to the Karnataka government, highlighting his lifelong dedication to manufacturing excellence and sustainability.
Senior TKM leaders reaffirmed the company’s commitment to advancing Karnataka’s industrial ecosystem through innovation, job creation, and skill development, ensuring Kirloskar’s vision continues to shape the state’s economic future.
