The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) has unveiled its latest tourism campaign, the ‘Kingston Season of Excitement,’ celebrating the capital’s vibrant cultural and sporting calendar. The initiative highlights Kingston as a must-visit destination from March to April 2025.

A Line-up of world-class events

Kingston will host a series of marquee events set to attract international visitors and showcase Jamaica’s rich heritage.

  • ISSA boys and girls championships (March 25-29): One of the world’s premier high school track and field events, featuring top young athletic talent.
  • Grand slam track meet (April 4-6): A high-intensity global competition, promising record-breaking performances from elite athletes.
  • Carnival in Jamaica (April 21-28): A week-long spectacle of music, dance, and culture, featuring vibrant street parades, reggae, and soca rhythms.

Beyond the events, visitors can explore Kingston’s lively nightlife, historical attractions, and world-famous cuisine.

Tourism industry’s vision for growth

Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Kingston is the cultural heartbeat of Jamaica. This season offers visitors an unparalleled chance to experience its energy while contributing to our growing tourism sector.”

Director of Tourism, Donovan White, added, “The ‘Kingston Season of Excitement’ brings together the best of Jamaican sports and culture. We are collaborating with industry partners to create unforgettable experiences.”

Expedia and Caribbean Airlines have joined forces with JTB to offer seamless travel options for visitors looking to immerse themselves in Kingston’s lively atmosphere.

Additionally, the Jamaican government has allocated $16 billion to the tourism sector for 2025-2026, aiming to boost efficiency, drive growth, and strengthen Jamaica’s global standing in travel and tourism. The country is focusing on expanding its reach in key markets, including the UK, India, Canada, and the US.

Jamaica continues to shine on the global stage, earning the title of “Destination of the Year – Romance” at the PATWA International Travel Awards 2025 in Berlin. The country has solidified its reputation as a top choice for weddings, honeymoons, and romantic getaways.

In addition, Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett was recognised as “Tourism Minister of the Year – Innovation” for his transformative contributions to the industry.
