A new Marathi film titled Maharashtra Epstein Files has been officially announced, and its intriguing motion poster has already begun generating discussion among audiences. Inspired by a sensational case that reportedly shook Maharashtra, the film promises to bring a controversial and thought-provoking story to the big screen.
The makers unveiled the motion poster on social media, offering a glimpse into the mysterious world the film aims to explore. Along with the announcement, it was also confirmed that Maharashtra Epstein Files will release across Maharashtra on October 2, 2026.
Presented by Jain Film Production and Matoshree Entertainment World, the film is produced by Devendra Bhat, Suryakant Bhunde and Prashant Kadampure. The project is directed by Swaroop B. Sawant, who has chosen a bold subject that draws inspiration from real-life events and social realities.
Over the years, Marathi cinema has earned praise for tackling socially relevant themes and presenting stories that encourage discussion and reflection. Maharashtra Epstein Files appears to continue that tradition by focusing on a subject that remains surrounded by mystery and controversy.
The film’s tagline, “Now everything will be exposed…!”, immediately captures attention and hints at a story filled with revelations. While the makers have not disclosed detailed plot information, the motion poster suggests that the film will uncover hidden truths and expose individuals operating behind respectable public images.
One of the most talked-about aspects of the poster is its central character, referred to as “Captain Bhondu Baba.” The visuals show a man standing with his back to the audience, holding bundles of ₹500 notes behind him. Dressed in a kurta, pyjama and jacket, he appears to project the image of a respectable individual. However, several elements surrounding him hint at a darker narrative.
Crime-scene tapes can be seen across the poster, while a wall covered with photographs marked by question marks adds to the mystery. Some images contain references such as “Nashik” and “Bhondu Baba,” prompting speculation among viewers. The table shown in the poster contains everyday objects including books, a cup of tea, a copper water vessel and other items that appear carefully placed to create intrigue.
The makers have intentionally kept the story under wraps, allowing audiences to interpret the clues presented in the motion poster. This strategy has further increased curiosity about the film and the events that may have inspired it.
At present, the cast has not been officially revealed. However, the production team has confirmed that shooting will begin soon.
The story of the film has been written by Sagarkumar S. Jain, while the screenplay and dialogues have been penned by Sanjay Navgire. Akash Kakade will serve as the Director of Photography, bringing the visual narrative to life on screen. The art direction is being handled by Akshay Ambekar, while costume design has been entrusted to Akanksha Gandhi.
The production team also includes Sachin Ghanwant as Production Head and Neha Ghodke as Production Controller.
With its mysterious title, controversial subject matter and attention-grabbing motion poster, Maharashtra Epstein Files has already managed to create buzz among Marathi cinema audiences. As more details emerge in the coming months, the film is likely to remain a topic of discussion ahead of its scheduled release on October 2, 2026.
