Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University, will celebrate National Science Day 2026 on Saturday, February 28, at the Dr TMA Pai Auditorium, 3rd Floor, Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal. This annual event honours Sir C. V. Raman’s groundbreaking discovery of the Raman Effect and promotes scientific thinking among students and the community.

The celebrations will feature Dr Hoysall N. Chanakya, Chief Research Scientist (Retd.) at the Centre for Sustainable Technologies, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, as the chief guest. A veteran in sustainable technology research, Dr Chanakya has over 40 years of experience in decentralised bioenergy, water and wastewater purification, and rural energy integration. He has guided more than 10 doctoral scholars and 20 postgraduate research students, and led over 50 research and consultancy projects.

Presiding over the event will be Dr H S Ballal, Pro Chancellor of MAHE, whose guidance has been pivotal in shaping the university’s research and academic ecosystem. The programme will also see the participation of senior MAHE leaders, including Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Pro Vice Chancellor – Technology and Science, Dr P. Giridhar Kini, Registrar, and Dr Anil K. Bhat, Dean of KMC, Manipal.

The event aims to inspire students to embrace a scientific approach to life and society while highlighting the role of research and innovation in sustainable development. Workshops, talks, and interactive sessions will provide a platform for young minds to explore cutting-edge technologies and scientific solutions relevant to contemporary challenges.
