In the ongoing counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly elections 2025, Manish Sisodia, former Delhi Education Minister, has lost his bid for the Jangpura seat. The Aam Aadmi Party leader, who represented Patparganj from 2015 to 2020, was fielded from Jangpura this year. However, he was defeated by BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah.
Sisodia briefly led the race early on but was soon overtaken by his rival. According to the Election Commission data, Sisodia trailed Marwah by 572 votes. The final tally shows Manish Sisodia with 34,060 votes, while Tarvinder Singh Marwah secured 34,632 votes.
Meanwhile, Congress candidate Farhad Suri secured a distant third place, trailing behind the two main contenders with 6866 votes
Sisodia’s shift to Jangpura was a strategic move by the AAP, but it ultimately did not yield the desired result.
The defeat of Sisodia, alongside other AAP leaders, highlights the tough competition faced by the party in these high-stakes elections.
