Mardaani 3 has emerged as a strong box office success, crossing the ₹50 crore nett mark in India and ₹75 crore worldwide after four weeks in cinemas. The film, produced by Yash Raj Films, has now become the highest grossing instalment of the Mardaani franchise, reaffirming the audience’s love for powerful female-led stories.
Headlined by Rani Mukerji, the film has collected ₹50.07 crore nett in India, with a gross domestic total of ₹61.09 crore. Overseas, it has earned ₹13.92 crore, taking its worldwide gross box office collection to ₹75.01 crore. The steady performance over four weeks reflects strong word of mouth and consistent audience turnout.
Reacting to the milestone, Rani expressed gratitude and highlighted the larger significance of the film’s success. She said she is deeply thankful that the film has connected with audiences in such a big way. At a time when box office conversations often revolve around so-called alpha male characters, she believes this achievement proves that female-led films also have a solid audience base.
Rani emphasised that her character, Shivani Shivaji Roy, was never conceived as a female version of a male hero. Instead, she was written simply as a hero defined by integrity, courage and empathy. According to the actor, the strong response to the film shows that audiences are ready for narratives where a woman leads not only emotionally but also commercially.
She further noted that the milestone goes beyond numbers. It sends a clear message to the industry that content-driven cinema anchored by a strong female protagonist can stand shoulder to shoulder with conventional hero-driven films. For filmmakers, she added, investing in female-led stories is not a risk but an opportunity.
The Mardaani franchise has now delivered three successful films over 12 years. Rani believes the character resonates because she represents resilience and grounded strength. Courage, she said, is not about roaring loudly but about consistently standing one’s ground.
Significantly, the film’s success coincides with Rani Mukerji completing 30 years as a leading lady in Indian cinema. Delivering a solo theatrical hit in her 30th year underlines her remarkable longevity and sustained box office credibility in the industry.
