Marriott International has achieved a landmark moment in its nearly century-long journey with the opening of its 10,000th property worldwide. The milestone was marked by the launch of the JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa in Rajasthan, India, highlighting the company’s continued global expansion as it approaches its 100th anniversary.
What began in 1927 as a modest nine-seat root beer stand has evolved into one of the world’s largest hospitality companies. Today, Marriott’s portfolio spans 10,000 properties across 146 countries and territories, serving millions of travellers every year through a diverse collection of brands and experiences.
Announcing the achievement, Marriott International President and CEO Anthony Capuano described the opening as a significant moment in the company’s history. He credited Marriott’s global workforce and property owners for helping the company reach this milestone through decades of growth and innovation.
Capuano noted that celebrating the achievement through a JW Marriott property carries special significance because the luxury brand is named after company co-founder J. Willard Marriott. Alongside his wife Alice S. Marriott, he laid the foundation for a hospitality business that has expanded across the globe while maintaining a strong focus on service and guest experience.
Located near the renowned Ranthambore National Park, the JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa offers guests an opportunity to combine luxury with nature. The resort features 127 accommodations, including guestrooms, suites and private villas designed to provide comfort while reflecting the region’s natural beauty.
Guests can enjoy a range of experiences at the property, from wildlife-inspired escapes to curated dining options. The resort’s restaurants showcase modern Indian cuisine, regional specialities and locally inspired botanical cocktails, creating a distinctive culinary offering for visitors.
The opening ceremony was attended by several senior Marriott leaders, including David Marriott, Chairman of the Board, and Rajeev Menon, President of Asia Pacific excluding China. They were joined by resort owner Nilesh Gadhiya and members of the Gadhiya family to celebrate the historic occasion.
The new property also strengthens Marriott’s growing luxury portfolio. The JW Marriott brand now operates more than 130 hotels and resorts globally. Across its luxury segment, Marriott manages nearly 700 properties in 74 countries and territories, making it one of the strongest luxury hospitality portfolios in the industry.
The company has continued to expand across multiple travel segments in recent months. Among its recent openings are The St. Regis Budapest, which marked the brand’s debut in Hungary, and The Westin Playa Vallarta, the first all-inclusive Westin resort in Mexico. Marriott has also expanded in Asia with the opening of Artik Suzhou, Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy in China, while StudioRes by Marriott Greensboro Airport strengthened its extended-stay portfolio in the United States.
As Marriott moves closer to its centenary year, the opening of the JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa represents more than a numerical achievement. It reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to growth, innovation and creating memorable travel experiences for guests around the world.
