As MasterChef India returns with its much-anticipated new season, the show once again proves that it is about far more than culinary skills alone. Alongside ambitious home cooks and inventive dishes, the premiere shines a spotlight on deeply human stories that resonate far beyond the kitchen.
One such touching moment unfolds with Mayank Raja and Alpana Agarwala, a couple whose relationship spans an impressive 36 years, including three years of courtship and 33 years of marriage. Their bond, built over decades, is rooted in companionship, understanding, and a shared love for food.
From the moment they step into the MasterChef kitchen, their ease with one another is unmistakable. The couple openly shares how food has always played a central role in their relationship, serving as a constant through different phases of life. Their story visibly moves the judges.
Chef Kunal Kapur, clearly touched, remarks on the deeper meaning of their partnership. He notes that the kitchen is often the heart of a home and praises the couple not only for nurturing that space but also for nurturing their family. Even after 33 years together, their happiness with one another is evident, he says.
The emotional moment soon gives way to light-hearted banter. Chef Kunal turns to fellow judge Ranveer Brar, asking how long he has been married. Ranveer responds candidly that it has been twelve years, before jokingly calling himself a “useless and dysfunctional” husband, adding that he feels fortunate his wife tolerates him. Kunal’s quick-witted reply draws laughter across the set.
Keeping the mood playful, Kunal then turns to Chef Vikas Khanna and asks when he plans to settle down. Vikas responds with quiet admiration, gesturing towards the couple and saying that such love is rare and not easily found.Through warmth, humour, and heartfelt admiration, MasterChef India once again underlines a simple truth. The kitchen is not just a place where meals are prepared. It is often where relationships grow stronger, memories are created, and love is quietly sustained over a lifetime.
