Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 and the accompanying industrial exhibition in Bhubaneswar. The two-day event is set to position Odisha as a key investment hub and industrial powerhouse under India’s Purvodaya vision.
Modi called Odisha a vital player in India’s growth story, citing its historical role as a trade and industrial centre and its emerging contributions to modern industries. The Prime Minister emphasised the region’s potential in green energy, industrial expansion, and tourism, urging global investors to seize the opportunities.
Key Investment Opportunities
Modi stressed that Eastern India, with Odisha at its forefront, serves as a growth engine for the nation. He outlined plans for green energy projects, including solar, wind, and green hydrogen, and highlighted the government’s initiatives to develop industrial parks in Paradip and Gopalpur. These parks aim to drive investment in petrochemicals and renewable energy.
The state is also focused on reducing logistics costs through enhanced connectivity. Projects linking ports with industrial clusters are underway, alongside the expansion of highways, rail networks, and new ports. Modi noted Odisha’s potential in the blue economy, including fishing and aquaculture industries.
Tourism and Cultural Significance
Describing Odisha as a model of development and heritage, Modi underscored the state’s untapped tourism potential. With a 500-kilometre coastline and rich cultural history, Odisha offers significant prospects for eco-tourism, adventure tourism, and heritage tourism. The state also plays a key role in the “Wed in India” and “Heal in India” initiatives, aimed at promoting wedding and wellness tourism.
Modi highlighted Odisha’s prominence during recent G20 cultural events and the global focus on India as a destination for conference tourism and concerts. He encouraged stakeholders to tap into the growing concert economy, which holds potential for job creation and tourism.
Focus on Innovation and Youth
The Prime Minister called for increased investment in research, innovation, and skill development, emphasising the importance of a robust supply chain and value addition within India. He encouraged industries to collaborate with MSMEs, startups, and the government to establish a thriving ecosystem in Odisha.
The Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 brings together industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to explore opportunities in sectors like IT, textiles, food processing, and edutech. Through this platform, the state aims to drive targeted global investments and foster economic growth.
The event will feature CEO roundtables, B2B meetings, and policy discussions, solidifying Odisha’s reputation as a leading destination for business and industry in India.
