National Award-winning producer Amol Kagane and acclaimed filmmaker Shivaji Lotan Patil are set to reunite for their latest Marathi film, ‘Murti’, continuing their journey of creating cinema that combines powerful storytelling with socially relevant themes. After earning critical acclaim and a National Award for films like Halal and Bhonga, the duo is now preparing to bring another thought-provoking story to audiences.
Known for presenting meaningful narratives that go beyond entertainment, Amol Kagane and Shivaji Lotan Patil have built a reputation for making films that highlight social realities while engaging viewers emotionally. Their latest collaboration, Murti, is expected to carry forward the same tradition by presenting a unique subject through an impactful cinematic experience.
Director Shivaji Lotan Patil has established himself as one of Marathi cinema’s most respected filmmakers. His work is recognised for addressing important social issues with honesty, realism and emotional depth. His debut feature earned him a National Award, and since then each of his projects has generated considerable anticipation among audiences and the film industry alike.
With Murti, Patil once again aims to present a story that encourages audiences to reflect on contemporary society. While the makers have kept the film’s central plot under wraps, they describe it as a powerful narrative that combines emotional storytelling with meaningful social commentary. The film is expected to offer viewers an engaging cinematic experience while prompting discussion on issues relevant to today’s world.
The film has been jointly produced by Amol Laxman Kagane, Laxman Eknathrao Kagane, and Shivaji Lotan Patil. Patil has also written the story, screenplay and directed the film, giving the project a unified creative vision from script to screen.
A strong technical team has been assembled to bring Murti to life. Mayuresh Joshi has handled cinematography, while Honey Satamkar has composed the film’s music. Editing has been done by Nilesh Navnath Gavane, with Ramesh Inamati overseeing the sound design.
The visual presentation of the film has been crafted by production designer Akash Shivaji Mali, while costumes have been designed by Madhav Balute. Makeup responsibilities have been handled by Nitin Dandekar, and Nitin Bhavsar has served as the still photographer. Mahendra Madhukar Tisge has worked as the Executive Producer.
The makers have also finalised the film’s distribution strategy. Filmastra Studio will distribute Murti, with Ameya Khopkar, Amol Kagane, and Pranit Vaikar managing its release. The team is expected to announce the film’s release date in the coming months.
The producers believe that Murti has the potential to create a distinct identity within Marathi cinema by offering audiences a meaningful story supported by strong performances and quality filmmaking. The film aims to continue the tradition established by the team’s previous award-winning projects, which successfully balanced commercial appeal with socially conscious themes.
As Marathi cinema continues to gain national recognition for its content-driven films, Murti is being positioned as another significant addition to the industry’s growing catalogue of meaningful storytelling. With an experienced creative team, an accomplished technical crew and a socially relevant narrative, the film is expected to attract both critics and audiences when it releases.
Following the success of Halal and Bhonga, expectations are high for Murti, which seeks to reinforce the filmmaking partnership between Amol Kagane and Shivaji Lotan Patil while delivering another memorable cinematic experience.
