The National Statistical Office (NSO) has released the Compendium of Datasets and Registries in India, 2024, aimed at enhancing data accessibility for policymakers, researchers, businesses, and the public. Published by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), the compendium consolidates metadata for around 270 datasets from 40 ministries and departments.
Covering sectors such as agriculture, health, education, labour, tourism, and banking, the resource provides a centralised reference for understanding data availability, scope, and accessibility. It includes details on data collection methodologies, update frequency, sharing policies, and regulatory frameworks. Direct access to datasets is available through links to respective ministry portals.
The initiative aligns with efforts to modernise the National Statistical System and promote data-driven governance. Regular updates will ensure the compendium reflects new datasets, evolving methodologies, and revised policies. The full publication is available on the MoSPI website: www.mospi.gov.in.
